Don't let the outside fool you - completely ineffective

Do not buy! Perhaps the only filter jug that even looks halfway decent. Do not be fooled. The filter is terrible. The water drains too quickly and the taste doesn't change. The "filtered" product still contains the chlorine from our municipal network and the degrees of hardness are identical. It just doesn't work. The filler cap feels comfortable and works well. The intake manifold cap works just as well as any cheap razor - poor and messy as a result. We bought a replacement Berkey (after…

It also spills very easily when pouring

I am writing about problems with the Soma water filter. This is a 10 cup carafe that I purchased from Revain in July 2017. I have changed filters several times and signed up for a 60 day filter replacement program through Soma. I have problems: 1. mold; and 2. very slow filtering. It looks very elegant and goes perfectly with our white kitchen and bamboo accents. It holds 10 cups of water, which is enough for both of us! I refill it after each use out of habit, but it's enough not to annoy when my…

Pretty but ineffective

I really wanted to like it - it's by far the prettiest water pitcher. They also sponsor a water charity that deserves admiration. But its performance leaves much to be desired. We had two main problems with it. First, it doesn't pour very well - the water tends to overflow and splatter all over the place unless you are very careful and careful when tipping it to pour, especially when trying to fill narrower water bottles. And the second and more important problem is, as many have pointed out…
