So far so good - something you should know

We have an Aqua Rain water filter system and have been using it for about 10 years. It has served us well and we plan to eventually get another set of filters for it and keep using it. But the way things are going we figured if we have extended power outages (which is not uncommon for me) we figured it would be good to have a second system so we can use two filters when pulling water and keep it on your farm is much better than just one because it takes time to filter the water. HOW IT WORKS It is packed very compactly in a white box. Everything is covered with plastic and protected with bags. It comes with all parts and requires some assembly. STEEL QUALITY This is an issue you need to be aware of. Because so many steel sources have been limited to inferior quality for so long, it's not uncommon for stainless steel to rust. Businesses have no choice, this is their only choice for stainless steel sources across the board. It looks good quality but is likely to get rust spots in the future - usually quite small. This applies to all water filters, so I just wanted to explain it to you. The filters will pull it out of the water unless it's horrible of course so don't worry but I wanted to warn you as someone with LOTS of experience with this. HOW MANY FILTERS? There are 3 filters in this set. There are 3 holes at the bottom of the filter canister. ASSEMBLY Assembly is minimal. You need to put in the nozzle and handle on the lid yourself, as well as install the filters. IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG AND IS NOT DIFFICULT. Take your time. We always use rubber gaskets whenever possible as they don't leak like many composite gaskets. FILTERS All filters are very well padded and wrapped in plastic and then placed in foam boxes. They are black and fragile, so you need to be careful with them. QUALITY So far the quality seems good. I'll obviously have to update this over time, but so far it's working well. WATER Water doesn't taste weird, although we run a few batches first, like all new filters, and throw them away. The water seems to taste nice and fresh, and it takes about a day to filter. STAND This stand keeps it off the counter so you can place your glass under the tap. We have it in the basement on a higher shelf so it's quite large. You can always wear it over something lower if that's the case for you. Don't forget to pour out the water for the first few shots. Replaced the gasket with a rubber gasket and it works great. The status is good and the filters are still holding. MY RATING IS FIVE STARS. I plan to update this review regularly as, in my experience, water filter problems are not usually instantaneous. I will update you if there is anything to add. PHOTOSI posted photos of all the parts and showed how it breaks down into a very compact storage unit. This is important if you're putting it off for a while. At least you can't worry about the enormous memory requirements. I've also shown pictures of all the pieces and parts that come with the kit so you know what you need. STORAGE Remember if you are going to store this you need to be sure the filters are completely dry and that it is just as dry. A note on how many times you've used the filters will help you when you try using them again, so you know how much more to expect from them.
