I bought two for my two storey house but one covers and would do. This is pretty close to having a full signal almost everywhere, including the immediate area around the house. While the guide only recommends using the Omada Controller software for large installations, I find it worthwhile even for my home. It's nice to see combined stats for APs, and it also makes things easier when you have a complex configuration. I found a Docker version of the software on Docker Hub and tried setting it up in Kubernetes and then using Docker-Compose, but there were a few issues: The internal database wasn't properly initialized, causing the launch and AP discovery failed because they were on different subnets compared to the controller. While both are certainly solvable, it was a chore with lots of ports to forward and a custom DHCP configuration to advertise the controller's location. After spending a few hours on it, I gave up and installed the software on a dedicated Ubuntu VM. Since then it has worked flawlessly. The VLAN tagging feature is useful for separating a Wi-Fi network, allowing you to separate IoT and guest devices from internal devices. It works seamlessly with the VLAN features in my OpnSense firewall/router.
