My husband can work safely at the top of the ladder
The increased stability of the ladder should not be underestimated. When my 70-year-old husband decided to work on the windows on our second floor, I winced — we have a lot of landscaping and rocks on the ground floor, and I was just concerned that the stairs wouldn't be sturdy enough for him to work there. But I was wrong. They widen the top of the stairs, add stability and working at the top is now really safe. Thank you!
