Review on Bella Cucina 13467 Circus Waffle by Jon Russell

We've had no issues with uneven heat and our circus waffles looked great. If you could make Christmas decorations with this, that would be great. Unfortunately, you will put them in your mouth. The toxic smell emanating from the waffle maker never went away. I assumed any leftover production oils etc. would burn up with the first few waffles we threw away. However, there is a smell of precisely melting plastic, which is part of the iron itself and cannot simply burn out over time. We're not overly sensitive. We usually heat up Tupperware in the microwave and drink from plastic bottles <swallowed>. However, this smell is unacceptable. I believe the problem is that both the latch that holds the iron and the lid are made of plastic (you can see the latch in the picture). Another fun feature of this iron is that the handle and latch get so hot that you can't open the iron with your bare hands. We had to use an oven mitt which was too big for such a small pen and made the process awkward. Many readers probably understand that plastic and iron do not mix well. Why is the pen getting so hot? Obviously the iron itself does its part, but the real problem is that most of the steam that comes out of the iron goes straight to the handle. Genius! I think the real circus here is watching the chef jump and dance while trying to open the dish before the flimsy waffles burn. Playing someone you hate would be a great April Fools' breakfast prank. The person who designed this iron clearly has never made waffles out of it. Do Chinese eat waffles? I'm not sure. Finally, bring your stopwatch. This iron has no ready indicator, either visual or audible. We have had several waffle irons over the past 35 years. The best of them (the early 80's German model) died a few years ago and we replaced it with the Waring Pro. Waring Pro was exceptional. We bought this as a fun novelty but I would never recommend this product. I sold it to Mohammed Gaddafi last week.
