This is a glass boiling water container AND WHISTLE NOTE: Water boils well. Not very good with whistle. My last one, which I've had in years, finally gathered dust when I was called outside and the water boiled away (despite whistling loudly). And finally, the plastic cover inside melted. I bought another one that looks like the old one (which I can still use to boil water but I can't get the plastic out that seems to be stuck to the glass) mainly for the whistling cap. I think the hole is too wide for a good whistle, but whatever the reason; It's not loud enough for me to hear when I'm in another room with the TV on, while my previous similar design worked fine.
