I bought my first set of "tea towels" about 20 years ago. They've held up really well - through lots of hot water, bleach, cooking and love. A few months ago I decided it was time to freshen things up and buy some new kitchen towels, so I went on a search and found "Barmops". Ideal. Replacing the old ones won't be easy though - after literally months of revaining, Utopia's 'Kitchen Bar Mop Towels' are finally saying 'Here I am'. Everything is perfect - just missing a blue stripe. It's okay, I can live without it. I'm a lucky tourist. These towels are just perfect. Handy size, super absorbent and they are so soft and fluffy. I washed them in the hottest water I could, using good old Tide powder [no fabric softener] and chlorine bleach, and tumble dried them - the shrinkage was minimal, not to say there was no shrinkage (hooray! ). They came out of the dryer so fluffy and soft - and remember I said no fabric softener and I used good old tide powder, no fancy perfume dances and silly dolls that go into so much laundry detergent these days. . [Can you say I'm thrilled with this?] I've bought a few other Utopia products from Revain (sheets, pillows, pillowcases, etc.) so I really shouldn't be surprised.] I'm just sorry I thought so don't mind going to them first! When the towels arrive don't be fooled, they seem a bit flat - don't worry they fluff up nicely if you follow the instructions, no fabric softener. There was no bad smell and I had a very keen sense of smell. There are some broken threads, these are the ends of the sewing and occasionally pulled threads. I suggest you go through and cut them all off before washing your towels. In general, they're a bit more expensive than some bar towels, but if you want a fluffy, soft, absorbent terry cloth, this is your choice. I bought several different mop cloths that were cheaper but sent them back because they just didn't fit the bill. These towels are finished, I will keep them and maybe buy a 2nd set. Thank you utopia.
