The Cubic Zirconia leaf disc is a wonderful thing! I don't know how previous generations of metalworkers managed without them. I smoothed edges and trimmed a couple of lights I built with SAIT 71215 Encore Petal Discs. I used 3 of these discs in less than half a day. This forced me to reinstall a worn out 5 month old Norton 20X drive from Home Depot. Although the Norton 20X was worn to the ground around the outer perimeter, and some of it, it held up for the rest of the day. The SAIT discs performed as expected, they just couldn't take it. It seemed to me that when worn, the "graininess” lags behind the fabric base. With the Norton flap disc, the "grain" and the fabric wore evenly down to the base plate. As a background, I used 36 grit SAIT Petal Discs for the second step of the 4-step ¼" and 3/8" mixing process. Structural steel.
