These buckles were recommended with the roof bag (car roof bag - 100% waterproof roof bag without roof rack) we bought. Requires + non-slip roof mat and storage bag, for any car, van or SUV (15 cubic feet). The straps that came with the bag were little more than a hole in the clips. But I was able to pull the straps through and still use them. The only issue I had with the clips was that it rained during our trip and water could seep through the clips. It could be because the straps didn't fit properly (which they will, except the clips worked great for keeping the pannier in the car in everything from dirt road rides to freeway speeds.
