Review on πŸ”§ Quick & Easy Caulk Remover Tool: Caulking Scraper by Robert Ryokan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Okay, it's no wonder tool

I'm a sloppy sealer so I was hoping these finishing tools would make my do-it-yourself projects a little easier. You get a good selection of different sizes and profiles. The scraper and squeegee ends are fine, but I don't use them. The kit is not a total failure, but it is also not a miracle tool. The problem is that plastic finishing tools only work well if you have a perfectly smooth, perfectly L-shaped area to seal. Otherwise, if you pull on the tool, the caulk will simply push out the edges instead of carefully removing excess material. For example, I encountered this problem when caulking a toilet bowl on a textured floor tile. I managed to emboss the window sill and the rim of the tub/tile. But overall, I could probably do about the same job with my old no-tool method: wet finger + wet paper towel.

Pros
  • A poorly made, flimsy caulking tool can cause more trouble and mess than it helps. At Johan & John we've engineered a caulking tool out of durable stainless steel and with all the precise details you'd expect from a quality silicone caulking tool, from its versatile design to its ergonomic handle and a range of useful finishing tools.
