Review on πŸ” Premium Wilson Electronics Dual Band Diplexer/Combiner - Optimized for 800-1900 MHz Frequencies by Alex Montgomery

Electrically OK but not weatherproof

This device looks pretty good from an RF point of view, but mechanically it has its drawbacks. The good news is that the loss from a common port to the corresponding 800 or 1900MHz port is only about 0.8dB. This is much better than the claimed 3dB loss. Rejection in the opposite area is over 40 dB, which should be sufficient for most applications. For an N-connector device, I expected it to be somewhat weatherproof. However, it is not weatherproof at all. There is no gasket on the removable cover, and the screws that attach the cover to the case were too long for me, and two of them didn't even fit fully. After loosening a screw while trying to tighten them, I replaced the cheap screws with stainless steel screws. And I added an automotive gasket between the cover and the chassis so it can be installed outdoors. I'm using it to power two different Yagi antennas pointing in different directions and with this weatherproof mod it should work fine for that.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
