Review on ๐ŸŒฎ Norpro 6-inch Tortilla Press by Erica Welch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I've been making corn tortillas everyday for 30 years

Most of these reviews made me laugh. People just don't understand the importance of this press. This is for the corn tortillas! Not flour. Flour cakes cannot be pressed. The dough is elastic. They need to be rolled out. For corn tortillas, you need to buy flour (cornmeal) from the masa store. It's in the Mexican section. Not cornmeal. You just add hot water to the flour. No oil or fat. You should use a piece of plastic under and over the dough ball to keep it from sticking to the press. I use a zippered gallon bag cut on 3 sides. Once pressed, carefully remove and place on a hot frying pan. Fry on both sides. If your dough cracks, then it's dry. If the tortilla blows while cooking, it will become soggy. Once you get the hang of it, the tortilla will eventually burst. There are several videos on YouTube that can help you.
