We're pretty dumb but I think this product saved our roof.

Why do we have a big flat roof? I think maybe the contractor ran out of money or something and decided a flat roof was the way to go. Unfortunately we live in the Northeast and due to heavy snow this year we had over 3.5 feet of snow on a 1000 foot flat roof. We were worried about the weight so we climbed out the window and raked it with a shovel. A small problem, it accumulated over 3 months and there was a fair bit of ice on the snow. This is where we get silly: we used a shovel to break up the ice and then scooped it out with the shovel. We punctured the membrane and it even tore a little in some places. I bought this product because my parents have come as a roofer to fix the roof every year for the past 3 years and it has cost around $1,000 each time. I've read a lot of pretty good reviews of this product online and for some reason I've found that people who work on vans are the most comfortable and informed reviewers. Strange right? I suspect they need a lot of maintenance, or maybe they're just older people with a lot of experience. This is just a guess. Anyway, I bought it with a rubber roller, got denatured alcohol from the hardware store and climbed back onto the roof. I scrubbed the area with warm water and then brushed some denatured alcohol to further clean the area. I erased it fairly quickly, then sanded the area very lightly with medium grit sandpaper just to scratch it up a bit. Then I wiped it again with a rag that washed off the alcohol and taped the tape. I would recommend a steel roller as I don't feel that a rubber roller will provide the pressure I need. I unrolled my heart until I saw some glue spread a little over the edge of the tape. Because it was so cold, I only ran my heat gun over the area for a few seconds and then drove some more. the problem is that we tried to be active, like with a shovel). I check them out quite often and they seem to be holding up. I think another blizzard will be the real test, but I'm not hoping for that. Also, I'm curious how it holds up in the summer heat, the roof is black (like the duct tape) and it gets very hot. I have a ton left so I can sew something just in case.
