I was excited to try Chirp 2 after the first Chirp last year. I've noticed some big improvements that make the difference worth it. Some of the highlights for me: 1. Three transmission cones. It was fun playing around with the different scan cone angles that Chirp 2 offers. I'm sure a more advanced angler than me will benefit even more from this feature, but I'm starting to use it for better aiming.2. Extended battery life. To be honest, I've never had any issues with the Chirp's original battery life, but the Chirp 2 is a huge improvement. The batteries are much larger than what I have in a day on the water. I found the Chirp 2's battery life to be great enough that I can take it on a weekend hike and never have to worry about charging in the middle of a trip!3. I've read other reviews about extending WiFi range. I can't say I've tested it to the max, but I will say I'm maintaining a very stable connection in my usual <150 range. All in all a great product that I enjoyed!
