As with any cast iron cookware, you need to be careful about what you buy from the start. I grew up in the 50's when almost everyone had cast iron chef's clothes and now that I no longer have a wife to complain about how heavy pots and pans are, I started buying things that I know better work than anything else I have. belonged to the past. This pan works great, the only time I've used water to wash it was when I bought it and after it's seasoned I've never had to wash it again, just brush and brush with salt, then oil and bake again.
