Review on ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Fostex USA High-Quality XLR Cable for Stage or Studio (AMS-ET-RPXLR) by Janelle Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hear details you didn't even know existed (with one important caveat).

As they said about these phones, the sound output from these cans is just amazing. I hear details in many of my favorite tracks I've never heard before and it makes me look through entire albums to see what I've been missing all these years. They're incredibly comfortable for long listening sessions (we're talking hours), they don't even cause listening fatigue over time. It's as if Fostex took away all the thrash and heavy sounds, smoothed them out, polished them and left every detail completely undistorted. Great detailed mids and highs with just the right amount of bass. In short, these headphones make listening to music fun again. My setup: Fostex HPA4 DAC (only for those low power phones btw as it's USB powered) connected to a JDS Labs Atom headphone amp (requires amps to drive it mostly unless your DAC has enough power). I also used JDS Objective2 which is similar to every other O2 amp on the market. I prefer these amps because they don't color or affect the audio signal from my DAC in any way other than increasing the gain, and have a pitch black soundboard. Anything you put in front of the amp will be accurately reproduced on the T60RP, even momentary junk when the signal is poor. This raises a very important caveat with these phones: you need a bit of juice to operate them, much more than what smartphones or most portable devices/laptops produce to appreciate the detail these headphones can offer. So for those who have given these banks a bad name for sounding "pale" on their smartphones/laptops, you have misused these phones, you will never achieve sonic traffic with this attitude. So if you have an amp or DAC with enough power, great! If not, then just know that there is a hidden price to pay to fully appreciate these phones. In any case, I love her.
