To record your voice, you always need to hold the mic directly to your mouth and speak out loud. When you play back your voice recording, you'll hear your voice slightly if you crank the volume all the way up, and you'll definitely hear the tapes that were also recorded with your voice spinning loudly. I do not recommend this registrar. When it comes to playing pre-recorded professional music, it plays well at high volume, but the wheels advancing the cartridge are still noisy. Overall this gadget looks good but the quality is very desirable.
