Sony dscw80, glad I bought it

I had a Sony DSC W50. It worked well for its portability. However, I dropped it on concrete. It still takes pictures but without zoom. I bought the DSCW80 to replace it, mainly because the DSC W80 price went down and the DSC w50 price went up. I also chose it because all W50 accessories (body, battery, memory, charger) work with it. W80 is my favorite. It is easy to use without having a manual as your constant companion. Low light ISO capabilities are MUCH better than the W50. It can capture images that are brighter than the room itself. As usual, the less light, the grainier the image. However, the images come out in a dimly lit room. There is some lag between shots, but it doesn't really affect how I shoot. The camera is very portable, fits in a shirt pocket (beware of bending over) and takes great pictures. I would have bought this camera in the first place if it had been available at the time I bought the W50. With the stabilizer function, I was able to take clear pictures in low light conditions. W50 shots were generally blurry in low light (no stabilization). Please note that blurring will occur when photographing moving objects in low light.

Pros
  • High sensitivity mode (ISO 3200) allows shooting even in low light conditions
