Review on Koni 82 2585 Mercedes Benz Sprinter by Deshaun Fisher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Handles large dips and bumps very well.

Rear mounted on 2012 Sprinter 4x2 only. Only two screws hold it in place. You will need a long broken rod to loosen the top bolt which requires a 21mm socket. It was very tight. The bottom bolt was an 18mm bolt with a nut. They are adjustable for rebound with 4 levels. Rotate the top of the shock 180 degrees in relation to the bottom after compressing the shock to the adjustment setting and completing one level. I set mine to average for a full turn. I figured it would still be a bit soft, so I went all the way with level 4. Follow the directions on which way to turn the damper for hard or light rebound. The cylinder bore is slightly larger than the original. After I mount them, the top tube rubs against the frame as it hits the factory sprayed dampening coating. I have 90,000 miles on my van and the old shocks still felt nice and tight after I took them off and moved them up and down by hand. The new shocks didn't really perform any better on regular roads or highways, but you can tell they did much better on big dips and bumps like railroad crossings. I'm glad I replaced them just to have peace of mind that I can't get a better ride. The horses are legendary. Probably the best stock shock absorbers.

Pros
  • shock absorber
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
