Easy to use, great price, GREAT shots

Let me start by saying that this is not a "professional" camera. This is a semi-professional camera or a camera that a professional can use as a backup. At 10.2 MP the picture quality is very good and you can zoom in and crop pictures and still get a good picture. I spent 2 weeks researching, reading and playing around with DSLRs in Circuit City. I chose the Nikon D40x for the following reasons: 1) Heavier construction, more durable than the Canon Digital Rebel XTi1a) Also feels better in the hand which was a personal preference 2) 0.1MP taller than the Canon3) 4 1 MP higher than the Nikon D404) is $350 less than the D80 (I would have preferred the D80 but I wasn't trying to spend $1500 or more having bought more lenses and accessories). 5) $632 for the D40x with the included 18-55mm lens, which is way better than Canon's 28-55mm kit lens (which has terrible reviews). 6) Nikkor lenses - I can't stress enough how important it is to have a good lens. Nikon seems to have the best lenses on the market. 7) Uses SD card - Canon uses a CF card. SD cards are cheaper for the same GB8) Nikon has a better warranty record and I've heard they are very customer centric.9) The Nikon name is legendary in photography and they have the best and cheapest gear.10) For $975 ( few purchases). on Revain), I got the following: D40x with 18-55mm lens, 55-200mm VR (vibration reduction lens), Nikon ballistic case, spare battery (2 total), Nikon photo manual, Sandisk Extreme III SD card 2GB, Sandisk USB card reader, (2) assorted Nikon lens soft protectors, Nikon microfiber lens and screen cloth, Nikon pen brush lens cleaner, digital data recovery software and digital photo editing software. A free trial of Photoshop was also included. All in all, this is the perfect camera for those who are interested in DSLR photography but don't know anything about aperture, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, manual focus, bokeh, etc. This camera makes it easy to master DSLR photography without feeling overwhelmed. It is also ideal for those on a tight budget, such as B. A college or high school student who wants to pursue photography as a career. Image quality is absolutely amazing for a $632 camera (including a GOOD lens).

Pros
  • 10.2 megapixel CCD provides enough detail for large photo quality prints
Cons
  • Can I add something?
