I was looking for a heart rate monitor that looks good, isn't too big on my arm, counts calories burned and can calculate distance and pace without being a GPS and costing a lot of money. The Garmin FR60 does just that as it is paired with a pedometer. It's a little bigger than I thought it would be, but it's not too big for my hand. I have very small wrists and they fit perfectly. I bought purple instead of black to give it some color although I wish purple had come with the pedometer as I had to buy a foot. pod separately. I haven't been able to use the pedometer yet as I haven't run yet, but I'm looking forward to using it. I have no idea how accurate the calorie count is as I have no other way of measuring how many calories I burn in my workout so I can't help either. In the three workouts I've done so far, all of the calorie counts have been about the same within 30 calories or so, so that's consistency. In terms of ease of use, I had no issues setting it up with Quick Start. Management. It's true that the full manual doesn't come with the watch, but I didn't really care. It was enough to just go to the Garmin website and grab the manual there. I like everything digital anyway, so that wasn't a disadvantage for me. The only thing I couldn't figure out how to change it is under the user information where you enter your weight, height etc. There is a field that says username (or something like that) and you can't type it in hours. I'm assuming there's a way to do this online somehow and send it to the watch, but the manual doesn't say anything about that. Nothing serious again. I don't know why some people say the menus are hard to navigate because I don't think so. I think it's pretty easy not to mention the manual and quick start guide and they all have menus. I love that I can customize the learning pages for different activities separately. For example, I use the Running and General tabs. I was able to customize my running training pages to include Heart Rate, Heart Rate Zone, Distance, Pace, Time, Time of Day, and Calories while configuring them for the General tab for Heart Rate, Heart Rate Zone, Time of Day. and the number of calories. I love that I don't have to go back and switch training sites every time I work out, whether it's at the gym for a class or just a run. I can just select "Run" or "General" and press "Start" and it will give me exactly the information I need for that particular workout. I also like the fact that I can replace all the batteries myself when they run out, which hopefully doesn't take too long. I always turn off the connection between the watch and HRM when not in use to save battery life and turn on transmit mode to save battery. I really like the Garmin Connect site. I can label each of my workouts and I want to see all the information about my workout on the screen. I can compare similar workouts to see how I did it and it's really easy to use. The included chest strap fits but is very tight and I'm constantly afraid of it slipping off. I would like to be able to tighten it, but I can't. For this reason I bought a smaller Garmin chest strap, which I was informed about in the troubleshooting section of the manual. I really want Garmin to give the HRM buyer a choice between a regular strap and a smaller strap depending on their chest size. The extra strap is less than $10, but now I have an extra strap that I don't need and feels like a waste. So I'm deducting a star for that. I would also like Garmin to provide some sort of carrying case for the watch, HRM and pedometer to keep all my stuff together. I find that I put everything back in the box when I've finished my workout so I don't lose parts, and I have to keep doing this until I find something better to carry everything. There are no instructions in the user manual for the care/cleaning of the HRM chest strap, so I have to find out for myself. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will buy this product again. And of course I received it very quickly and at a great price by buying it through Revain.
