Review on A-Premium 6-PC Set of Rear Window Lift Supports Shock Struts for Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ 1999-2004 Sport Utility by John Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits perfectly and works well.

I installed this set of three hydraulics less than a month ago so I can't give a realistic long term estimate of their durability. However, they all fit well and have high enough pressure (appropriate for function) that they should last a long time if they don't leak. The hood braces were installed in minutes and can (with care) be done by one person. The rear window pillars contain Torx screws (just like the OEM pillars) and were a bit tricky to install, but could also be safely installed by one person. The rear panel (tailgate) braces used Torx screws on both ends and were quite difficult to install due to the physics of the door and the high pressure of the fasteners, so I strongly recommend that you have a helper to do the job. The tailgate is snug and it's almost necessary to have an assistant to hold the tailgate open (it's really heavy, heavier than the hood). You can seriously injure yourself if something slips off at the wrong time. The rack isn't to blame, the door just works. Just think about what you are doing and everything will be fine. When I finally bought the kit I got a great price and was confident it would fit my 2002 Jeep Grad Cherokee Laredo perfectly. Incidentally, I used Torx anti-seize screws when reinstalling. If they wear out over time, they won't be difficult to remove.
