It's really pretty and feminine. Light, slightly transparent, airy, translucent to translucent and wavy on the beach. This is the same material our mothers and grandmothers use for curtains to provide privacy but let in sunlight. no Not even close. It is the same sheer fabric and weave, texture, although lighter and thinner, softer for clothing purposes. I like it but consider the features why I bought it. What is modest coverage supposed to be? the hot months over my nightgown or pajamas instead of a hot, heavy, sloppy dressing gown, especially for visits/stays in extended family homes. It's lightweight, takes up very little space/weight in a suitcase, air dries quickly for cleaning the sink on the go, and the iron is super fast if that bothers me. If I had to keep it to myself, I would put it in a laundry bag and wash on the gentle cycle in cool/cold water with dye-free laundry soap; let air dry. If you insist that I put it in the dryer I would use the Down/Cool/Delicate setting and no colors other than white. Some women complain that these kimono capes are too square or too big, but that is their nature. The crochet trim is beautiful and the ties work well. I will return it because I managed to find another one I like better. For reference, this goes to just above or below my knees, shows the cleavage of my chest, goes to and/or below my elbows. It is transparent enough to show things like tattoos, skin color, clothing color/pattern underneath very clearly. If this "Kimono" was made out of real cotton and was transparent as seen in the photos above, I would most likely keep it for myself. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer beautiful and functional fabrics that have worked for centuries over synthetics.
