This toy is very tough. Our Golden Retriever is a dedicated chewer and he had the tail chewed in pieces in short order. A tusk was next - however the stuffing is compartmented. Chew one leg, the body stays stuffed. Chew one tusk, the head stays stuffed, etc.All told, it hung out for a few months - the longest of any soft toy yet. Wow! Wow! I have a very aggressive chewer who tears stuffed toys to shreds. This toy held up for about a month (the previous record was an hour). He enjoyed it so much, the elephant has several different textures for your dog to explore. Product could be improved by stuffing with someone other than batting. I would not leave my dog unattended with this toy.

I purchase Tuffy toys almost exclusively for our two dogs and honestly, they do not seem to be as tough as they used to be. When I first started purchasing them about 5 years ago, I had a puppy that could destroy a tennis ball in about 5 minutes flat. These toys kept her busy for months. My dogs LOVE this elephant, and also the Tuffy Bunny. They haul it around and sleep with it. Although they've been able to rip it a bit, it's still holding together and I'm not worried about them getting into the stuffing. One of my dogs is an extremely determined ripper. He shreds everything. He had $6000 surgery because he ate the stuffing from a stuffed animal that combined with the sticks he chewed on and strings from a rope toy and completely blocked the exit from his stomach. So in the past I have bought this exact toy with the same dogs. The last time I bought it, it lasted about 2 years before finally having to get rid of it. I decided to buy another one since it lasted so long the first time, within a matter of a couple of hours the toy was DESTROYED. A disappointing $30 spent on something that I expected to last as the previous one.

Great toy! My mastiff loves tuffy toys! She ate the head off of the tuffy turkey but hasn't made a dent in the elephant! We've also had the alien for a while! Tuffy toys are the only toys that last around a mastiff household!

I was excited about this toy. My 70lb pup loves soft toys, but can rip through them fast. It's below zero here today and I thought it would be a great day to give him such a hearty toy - perhaps it would keep him busy during my conference calls. 30 minutes the stuffing was littered in the living room. I bought this for my very big lab- she weighs 110 pounds- and she loved it. It has held up so far with some tears and stuffing pulled out but my dog is extremely rough on toys. I would buy again.

My German Shepherd puppy destroyed this in less than 2 days. It's adorable, but expensive for 2 days. I haven't found any stuffed toy he hasn't destroyed. Benebone and Goughnut are the only thing he's hasn't even come close to wrecking. Thanks anyway.

I have been disappointed with the quality of tuffy toys. The elephant was the last victim that lasted about 2 minutes at my house before stuffing was everywhere. In the past, these toys used to last, but not anymore. Mine was destroyed by a boxer puppy.

Great! The dogs love it. I will have to look for this toy in a smaller size since it is heavy, the dogs prefer to carry around the smaller toys. The toy really is tough!

Every toy my dog likes, he has destroyed within a day or two. He loves this toy and after two weeks it’s still intact! Can be difficult to clean thoroughly.

I wanted a tough toy for Barney my English Bull Terrier which he could not destroy.My order came quicker than some items I have ordered from just 50 miles away. The quality of the toy is beyond anything I could have imagined and it is excellent value for money. The quality is so good I was reluctant to let Barney have it. Only time will tell if Barney manages to consign his new toy to the same fate as all his other toys. I doubt it!

If you have a dog who loves to tear up toys. this still may not be strong enough! My lab had this ripped up within a week. The "shell" still gets dragged around though- he loves it!

My 50 lb Springer Spaniel loved this toy; but it only lasted a couple of hours. I gave it to him 3 days ago and he still plays with it, but the head is almost completely detached from the body and there are trails of stuffing around the house. If it was half the price, it may have been worth it for the hour or so of play time, but I spent a lot of money for a decapitated elephant

First day he got it he tore a hole in it and with that it went downhill. First another hole then the trunk an ear then a leg we had to throw it out. I wish they really did make tuff toys for dog like mines this is so unfair and you all product wasted my money

My dog loves this toy. When I say love. carrying it, throwing it, gutting it and then shredding the carcass. That is dog plushy animal love.

I bought this Tuffy Elephant, based on the the Tuffy advertising, for my Boston Terrier. It lasted approximately 20 minutes before she had chewed a hole in it! The lions and tigers used for Tuffy testing must have been toothless! She is now chewing on the alligator!
