Review on Moen 6410BN Two-Handle Centerset Bathroom Faucet by Adam Ross

A quality product marred by incomprehensibly bad design choices at installation.

It appears to be a well designed product that performs well apart from a couple of design decisions that are incredibly stupid. Unlike most other manufacturers, they do not include hoses with a water tap. This requires a separate trip to Home Depot, which made me wonder why not just buy a faucet here? All Kohler faucets at Home Depot have hoses. Once you receive the hose, you will understand that you need to fix the hose after you fasten the faucet to the sink with the plastic hand tight nuts. That means that even though they used modern faucet attachments, they went back and required that you use a wrench to secure the hoses to the faucet during installation. This can be very difficult due to lack of space. What a bad design! I'm also guessing how the drain lever attaches to the vertical rod under the sink. A thumbscrew works much better and is common on faucets from other plumbing manufacturers. Again, this requires a wrench to tighten. Overall this appears to be a well thought out product but as with many bathroom faucets the depth from back to front is very shallow. This means slapping your hands away from you on the edge of the sink while washing your hands. Another bad design. Why a manufacturer would make a quality product and then spoil it with cheap attempts to save a penny I can't even understand.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
