Well 4 hours into the setup process I finally got this thing working and it wasn't Draft n Speed just g. The first problem is that the program did not boot immediately from the installation disk. I've been using Windows Vista for over a year now so I'm used to compatibility issues but figured it wouldn't be an issue now. I had to access the setting from my file directory and then made the mistake of installing net-magic, which didn't help either. In hindsight, I should have spent more time learning what's compatible with my wireless NIC (Intel 4965agn wireless chipset) installed in my laptop and started with the PDF manual for the router. Anyway, tips and tricks: 1. Network Bypass Magic, it is a test run service that will clog your boot sequence and slow down your computer speed. Connect your laptop directly to your router with an Ethernet cable. Go to your router's configuration page (type 192.168.0.1 in your browser's address bar) and from there configure your wireless network. I copied the "key" and pasted it into the Windows network setup screen. I had to set this up manually as Windows didn't automatically find this connection for me, an issue with Windows and not the router's fault. Once I did that, I eventually connected, but only at g-speed. PDF router manual will help you.2. Make sure the wireless security of your wireless network adapter on your laptop is set to the security type your router is set to. For example I chose the AES and TKIP settings in the WPA2 personal security protocol on the router, my network adapter only allows n-speeds with TKIP so this caused problems (g-speeds vs. n-speeds) when connecting, so I had to adjust them to get a higher connection speed n. I found this on the Intel website.3. Couldn't connect on 5GHz, my network adapter supports that but couldn't get both to work so I'm now using the 2.4GHz band with no problems. Make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware for both your router and network adapter.5. Draft n speeds drain the battery faster. Overall I'm connected, the speeds are n, and there aren't any dropouts or problems rebooting the router or modem like my old devices. I would rate it higher if it didn't take so long to connect. No problems with my wired devices.
