Easy setting; No problem

I have had this unit for 2 years now and have had no problems. It was easy to make connections between my modem, this device and my laptop; My laptop connects wirelessly with no problems. I also connected the X-Box and printer using the device's Ethernet ports; This scratched my head a bit due to my lack of experience, but I figured it out. My neighbor (city lots) was also able to connect to my router (via wifi) once I gave him access and he's streaming movies.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Style 90

D-Link DIR-628 Easy to set up, hassle-free phone router connection

I had a Netgear router (WGT 643 v3) that I bought on Black Friday 2006. When I wired it to my desktop and used wireless for my laptop, it was normal for a laptop, not to mention frequent crashes, but my desktop had a frustrating load of everything. Then we go and come back to connect both computers with a cable. Before I bought this computer I read some of the reviews on here, especially the negative ones, and I was concerned if it would work for me. The day I received it there was no problem…

Exceptional product!

I am a person who has installed many home and business networks from scratch. I've been in business for almost 5 years and have installed about 12 of these (DIR-628) and (DIR-625), which are the same router but a previous model, in different projects. This is the MOST STURDY router I have ever used and I was very impressed with all the business class options it offers as well as the very easy to use interface for the average home user who may not know much about router setup white. It is…

Hard Setup for Router

Well 4 hours into the setup process I finally got this thing working and it wasn't Draft n Speed just g. The first problem is that the program did not boot immediately from the installation disk. I've been using Windows Vista for over a year now so I'm used to compatibility issues but figured it wouldn't be an issue now. I had to access the setting from my file directory and then made the mistake of installing net-magic, which didn't help either. In hindsight, I should have spent more time…

excellent router for $

the router works fine. it's only been about 1 month but no problems so far and don't expect it. Excellent WiFi coverage throughout my house (single story, 3 bedrooms). d-link is proven to make some of the best routers, especially for $80 (the regular price for this model is $80, but I bought it on sale for $53 so keep an eye out for those deals !). although I've noticed that some of the base model D-Links routers tend to "get what you pay for", so it's worth getting at least a mid-range model…

Pros
  • delivery was very fast
Cons
  • there are new competitors

RELIABLE, AFFORDABLE, MULTI-CUSTOMIZABLE ROUTER

I love you, read almost 3/4 of the reviews on here and seriously considered not buying this router. One post talked about how the Securespot program that comes with your router "hijacks" your computer like a terrorist, causing unbearable constant annoyance. Another post said that the Securespot program will be automatically installed on your computer and even if you disable the program, you will be prompted again and again to register with the Securespot service. Although I've only been using…

Finally tired of dealing with it.

I will definitely not buy a D-Link router again. Since I've had it, I've had to turn it on and off at least once a week. Other than that annoyance, it worked fine until I moved. Now too often it throws the annoying message "Please wait while we measure the network gateway" when I go to the web interface. It just seems to "reboot" on its own and disconnect from the internet. Factory reset now. So I guess I should wait on the phone to get terrible support from people who know less about routers…

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Weak set

Firmware update beware

Good* a/n support works great (I only bought this for 5Ghz support so "you have to choose" is fine)* Relatively easy to set up after top Bad* DNS is slow. The device has its own DNS server and is slow. Direct communication with my ISP is much faster. Really ugly * Updated firmware will redirect you to a webpage that tries to sell you commercial software on first use. just like all those pesky wireless hotel solutions. This is obviously just plain bad and. He keeps forgetting that I already told

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Good buy Networking products

I recently bought this router and it was easy to set up. My laptop is up and running within minutes. I had problems initially because I didn't follow/read the instructions fully. If you're installing a router, first make sure you're online (so if you're replacing an old router you'll need to connect cables to your modem to stay online), then insert the CD and follow the instructions instructions the instructions. .This one has strong security so make sure you have a desktop account, in my case…
