RELIABLE, AFFORDABLE, MULTI-CUSTOMIZABLE ROUTER

I love you, read almost 3/4 of the reviews on here and seriously considered not buying this router. One post talked about how the Securespot program that comes with your router "hijacks" your computer like a terrorist, causing unbearable constant annoyance. Another post said that the Securespot program will be automatically installed on your computer and even if you disable the program, you will be prompted again and again to register with the Securespot service. Although I've only been using this router for a few hours, I want to share my experience with you. HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS: Operating System: Windows Vista 64bit Legacy Router: D-Link DI-624 2.4GHz Airplus Xtreme Internet Connection: Road Runner High Speed Cable 2nd Generation Ipod Touch Wired Hotspot. First, follow the instructions. Insert the CD before unplugging the current router. Once the setup wizard has verified your current connection, unplug your old router and plug in your new one. Having switched from one D-Link router to another, our experiences may vary. At this point I was prompted to enter the password "admin" which was not recognized after entering it, but don't worry. D-Link allows you to continue configuring your new router without setting a password. Since my password was not recognized, I had to restart my computer with the newly installed router and run the installation wizard again. After restarting the PC, the wizard was able to successfully complete the setup. Now the second hurdle. My internet connection always showed as not connected, which is correct. I still need to clone the mac address to the router and reboot the modem and router at the same time. After cloning the Mac address from the D-Link server ([.]), I was able to successfully set up my router. out of the box with no modifications. My pre-switch connection was running at 4.7-5.1 Mbps (using high-speed road runner cable) with a D-Link DI-624 Airplus Xtreme G model, which worked as advertised. After the change, it now runs at a meager 2.2 Mbit/s - and that with disabled advanced DNS protection. The change is subtle, but remember it comes out of the box - there's room for improvement. VERY IMPORTANT: Now that I have not clicked the Securespot button on the left side of the setup wizard and have not disabled Securespot from the D-Link server ([.], my computer is securespot-free! Wireless device: I updated mine Router because my iPod didn't work with my DI-624 I'm happy to report that after switching my 2nd generation iPod Touch can now access the internet, email, youtube, itunes etc. Although Apple claims that the iPod touch only works when connected to the 5GHz internet, I'm happy to report that it doesn't click the Securespot tab in the setup wizard and the Securespot button on the D-Link router server and you enabled will be fine Make sure QoS module is disabled to reduce connection speed! Connection speed too full Set up LAN and WAN connection a. For the sake of full disclosure, I've given it 3/5 stars for reliability as I can't comment on it at the moment. Kumbha -------------------- ----------------------- ------ -------------PS Make sure the "Enable traffic shaping" option is unchecked in the "QoS Engine" option on the left margin under the "Advanced" tab.
