I am a person who has installed many home and business networks from scratch. I've been in business for almost 5 years and have installed about 12 of these (DIR-628) and (DIR-625), which are the same router but a previous model, in different projects. This is the MOST STURDY router I have ever used and I was very impressed with all the business class options it offers as well as the very easy to use interface for the average home user who may not know much about router setup white. It is unmatched in security features, firewall and parental controls. In fact, about half the time I've installed these devices, I've been replacing broken or failed Linksys/Cisco or Belkin routers. I have used many different models of Linksys and Belkin routers and found their average lifespan to be around 2-3 years. The three projects I have installed these devices on have been running flawlessly for over 4 years, one of which is already 5 years old. Now I only use D-Link devices! Other brands simply cannot be compared in terms of quality or capabilities. Even more expensive models from other brands cannot compete with these devices. I know from experience! And D-Link's support team is a pleasure to deal with. Your staff are the most helpful, courteous, American (not outsourced) people I have ever dealt with. I wish some of my clients were as good as they are. Yes, and the devices work with both cable and DSL modems. They just have to be configured differently. During the installation process, you simply select which type you are using and act accordingly. Finally, the dual-band speed of this device is top-notch!
