My kit did not include a phone holder. That's fine for my purposes since I'm recording on desktop anyway and not on phone (I didn't try to contact support as I don't need that detail). I can't rate the remote either as I didn't use it (the remote is connected to the phone/tablet and not the lamp). The lamp itself works well, has multiple settings for brightness and temperature of light or color. I use it for student lectures and meetings so I only use cold light and don't do much with the settings but they all work. It sits stable on my desk and plugs into my computer's USB port. With the tripod, you can easily adjust the angle and direction of the light. You can also widen or narrow the tripod legs to easily adjust the height of the lamp. I don't aim the lamp directly at my face because it puts me off when the ambient light isn't quite bright; Instead, I create an angle of about 100 degrees between my desktop screen and the light, and I'm in between. This suits my needs very well - I no longer teach from the shadows!
