As far as we can tell, whey protein isn't bad per se and we appreciate that it's organic, grass-fed etc. The problem is the packaging. Three times we've bought these 5 pound bags of Raw Organic Whey and two out of three came with small holes in the bottom of the bags. So when we take them out of the Revain shipping container, we immediately start getting flakes of leaking protein powder onto the kitchen counter or floor. We don't know if small holes in the bag indicate contaminants have entered the product itself, or if holes in the bag increase the likelihood that the product will go rancid or otherwise deteriorate due to exposure of its contents to air for a period of time unknown . The holes we found are on the seam lines around the bottom of the bag. We have no way of knowing if the manufacturer's sacks will be left this way, or if the sacks will be damaged during their post-processing at Revain's warehouse or during transit. Regardless of the answer, the manufacturer needs a stronger bag or other container, or at least needs to ensure all seams are fully sealed. And it's a hassle stuffing five pounds of whey protein powder into our own large ziplock bags for later storage.
