Review on Front Door Radio Speaker - GM Genuine Parts 25943916 by Jim Plump

DOA and my car stereo fried

Hooked up this little guy to my car to replace a missing passenger door speaker. Not only did it make no sound, it burned every other speaker in my car. After a few days, the speakers started making terribly loud screeching noises, like the banshee was screaming at the top of her lungs. Removed those sobs, but the damage was done. I unplugged the other speakers for a few months to let them cool down. But shortly after turning it on, they start squeaking again. I haven't traced the wires very closely to see what happened, but everyone in the stores says there's a grounding problem somewhere. Unfortunately, when summer comes around again I'll be picking up my car carpet to look for wires and hopefully none of my wires have melted. I added an extra ground wire and replaced all of my speakers. This has worked so far. Fingers crossed I hope this solves the problem. I was lucky my radio was fine after all that. I've learned my lesson: only buy genuine electronic parts from a seller you know you can trust. It wasn't worth saving $10 to buy it from a random retailer on Revain only to have it nearly fry the entire system. Should have just paid extra and gotten a replacement from a local dealer. After all this hassle, I've definitely invested more time and money than I could spare.
