Pros: They are comfortable to wear for at least 12 hours and their shape means they need little adjustment. In fact, the most you'll play with is to make sure they're still in your ear because it's handy enough to forget they're there. They have inserts for both right and left ear so you can choose your preference and you have others as a backup in case you lose one. Colleagues with them indicated that they could hear radio conversations better with them than with ordinary mushroom headphones. Now that I have mine, I agree with her assessment. I hear more clearly than with mushrooms and at a lower volume. The design is open: ambient noise from around you lets through, and surprisingly this doesn't affect your ability to hear traffic. .The Bad: While their transparency is also a certain benefit (see other notes), the downside is that they are easily discolored by wax, making them look dirty quickly, especially in a tight and complex pipe (but not impossible with little effort) reachable with a cotton swab. Cleaning with alcohol will help but will not prevent discoloration. Additional Notes: - As you can see, for those who care about looks, there is no problem with matching skin tone. - They are better than mushroom inserts in every way. The convenience alone is enough to justify an upgrade. But the added benefits of clarity, the ability to hear transmissions at lower volumes, and the ability to hear your surroundings allow me to say without hesitation that they are the *safer* alternative.
