I wanted to increase the size of my computer's main drive. I had a system with two M.2 SSDs in a Raid 0 configuration. I planned on replacing it with an M.2 SSD as the primary, keeping one of the old SSDs as a high-speed notepad, and using the remaining old SSD in this portable enclosure to create a super flash drive. I started by fitting my new replacement SSD into this SSD enclosure. I then cloned my existing main drive from RAID to the new SSD via the USB port. I then disabled the existing RAID and tested booting the new SSD from this enclosure via the USB port. Everything works fine (although not comparatively slow). After that, I removed the old RAID, installed the new SSD in the main M.2 slot, left one of the old SSD in the second M.2 slot, and put the remaining old SSD in this portable enclosure. I had to use Diskpart to delete and reformat the existing partitions on the old SSD, but otherwise all went well and everything works as expected. Disadvantages of this product. The only thing that bothered me a bit about this case was the very precise fit of the end cap and the cumbersome construction of the SSD clamping screw. These are minor design flaws that do not affect performance and are only discovered when installing an SSD. The disappointing aspect of this product is the cables that come with it. The USB-A to USB-C cable gave the error "USB device failed" twice when I tried to use it. Luckily I have several similar cables, but not for USB 3.1. This may explain the unremarkable test results compared to a thumb drive 3. The USB-C to USB-C cable appeared to work, but I got file errors when trying to transfer files from my phone to this device. I ordered a new cable, let's see what happens. Basically, I like the device. It is small and offers all the advantages of a flash drive (requires no external power supply, small size) at a higher speed. It also gives new life to your old M.2 SSD (which probably has more data capacity than most USB sticks you have). Be sure to check the compatibility of this device with your SSD, and don't rely on the included cables to work. UPDATE: I have both USB 3.1 cables and yes it made a huge difference in performance. The bugs are gone and the performance between the case and my desktop has been greatly improved (compared to using a USB 2.0 cable). Exit the case, discard the cables.
