Review on Efficient Prima Causa HVAC Flaring and Swaging Tool Kit: Ideal πŸ”§ for Flaring Soft Refrigeration Copper Pipe with Tubing Cutter & Ratchet Wrench by Aaron Jimison

Tolerances aren't his forte

I need one Repair kit for some 3/8" diameter copper tubing on my van. The tools are not designed to sufficient tolerances. The 3/8" copper did not fit in the vise. I had to squeeze it really hard and it still wouldn't close and it was barely, i mean, barely enough room to put the punch on the vise (had to smack it to tighten it) because the vise wouldn't close.clamp.it left deep slits in my copper pipe where it pinched it has. Who I could live with. Yet expansion was a long way off. Yes, the end of the crimped tube slid over the other 3/8" tube, but there was plenty of slack, so much so, that s I was worried that the solder wouldn't fill the gap between the two leads. So I sent it back and got another brand more expensive but still cheaper than the others and it was made in the USA. When it arrived it was noticeably heavier, despite sharing essentially the same parts. The metal was smoother, the clamp was correct, and the crimped tube was snug against the other tube as it should be. At some point, saving is pointless if you can no longer do the work with the tool. I personally didn't like phasing out propane for a cheap tool kit.

Pros
  • The eccentric cone will automatically spring back after the job is done, idle the top head again 1-2 times and have the torch in friction to make it nicer
Cons
  • Makes me angry
