I almost ordered this based on the mixed reviews, but at first glance I thought it was a great set of knives. I'm not sure what people really expect. It is durable and made of thick canvas. People notice that it comes folded and looks warning. That's true, but I think it adds to his character. It looks rustic but is linen and army green at the same time. It holds 9 knives and has a small sharpening area and a slim zippered pocket for tweezers, pens, cleaning knives and whatever you want. What I like best is that it is an actual knife roll that rolls up tight. The knives are well protected and safe. I purchased the Chef Sac knife covers and they fit perfectly in the knife slots to protect the reel from sharp knife blades. This roll allows knives to be stored either with the handle in a pocket or with the blades sliding into the pocket. Both methods work well, it's a matter of preference and knife brand. In any case, I would always recommend a blade guard no matter what reel/knife case you buy. This will continue for a very long time. I am a professional chef and have had many knife rolls and so far this is my favorite.
