Review on Synology DS220 NAS black by Michal Kucharski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

For me, this NAS was an early adopter. When I coupled it with two WD Reds for a total capacity of 3 terabytes, the outcome was really horrible, and there was no way to win: The basic 2 gigabytes of RAM is sufficient to turn around and experiment in full, collect various apps, and even install everything through Docker. A very worthy computer was produced, always ready to service my multimedia and merely hazy hobbies. Concerning the noise, since this was a subject that was extremely important to me, I would answer it as follows: the NAS device itself is very quiet; the volume level is determined mainly by the hard disks. It is almost entirely inaudible with my WD Red, but I turn it off at night to improve the quality of my sleep (this can be easily automated). In general, turning it off is completely optional; however, this is already nitpicking because it is almost completely inaudible with my WD Red.

Pros
  • + Simple to install and set up (any "confident PC user" will be able to figure it out; this network technology is arguably the simplest of all that are possible) + Reliability +Excellent multimedia features + A collection of awesome mobile applications that I use on a daily basis; replace practically the entire range of Google for me, with the exception of perhaps search and YouTube, and even then, the latter is partially also plus. A plethora of programs available in the shop suitable for any situation + Excellent technical support that is entirely free of charge
Cons
  • -The cost -There is no support for third-party programs (although there is Docker, which is an excellent alternative)
