It does not pump water because it requires power that is incompatible with US electricity. This requires 220V, 50Hz electricity, not the US standard 110V, 60Hz. The voltage requirement is hidden in the product description, but is far from obvious! UPDATE: The seller has responded to my complaint and issued a full refund.
