Review on Stay Alert with First Alert Public Alert Radio featuring S.A.M.E (Discontinued by Manufacturer) by Paul Freeman

Initial alarm SUCH weather radio

I had an old SUCH radio but you couldn't use it because you couldn't keep it from going off every time there was a severe thunderstorm or flash flood warning which meant that it worked too many times in summer and wake us up for no reason. I ended up throwing it away and based on other reviews I ordered this one. Important points. It was pretty easy to program: find the codes for the precinct or precincts you are interested in and program the location, then go through the list of events. You can't turn off a few things like tornado alerts, but flash flood and severe TS alerts CAN be turned off. It has a backup battery, insert rechargeable batteries and it will charge them. Please note that there is a rechargeable/non-rechargeable battery switch that you must set to avoid trying to charge non-rechargeable batteries. You can view the events in the log to see what you missed while you were away. I don't know why you need it, but you can do it. When you use the device in the bedroom, the power indicator becomes a handy night light. It is yellow-green and illuminates the ceiling above the radio. Put it in a window and small planes will be attracted to your driveway and try to land, thinking it's an airport. I put something on it so we could sleep at night. While this is the only negative I found on the radio, maybe they could add a dimmer function. So far I like the device very much and I would buy another one if something happened to it and I might give it away in the future. A NOTICE. I have just noticed that the image of the item in question does not exactly match the radio I purchased, it is the same brand and appears to have the same features, but be aware there may have been changes to the radio.
