advantages: there are many, they are different and very well made. These are works of art. I find them fairly easy to detach from the base and hang on a window, so full credit for that. However, I bought them so the birds wouldn't kill themselves by flying into our windows. We like having birds around, so we don't want to scare them away; we're just trying to keep them from flying into our windows at full speed. We also like looking out of windows, so we don't want to glue butterflies all over the surface. Our first try was to put one in each corner, but that didn't seem to help - we still had a bird swoop through the window with them. We added a few more butterflies, but if we get another bird strike at the window because of this window, I'll consider it a failure. If it works I'll increase the rating to 5 stars. If you want it to be a work of art, consider it a 5 star rating; I'm just not sure if it keeps birds from flying through the windows.
