Review on Calphalon 2106488 Touch Countertop Silver by Kathy Bishop

First things first: I paid for this oven so this review is unbiased. I found it well packaged and overall makes a good impression. After unpacking, I noticed that the handles don't move well. Otherwise, a good device loses something when you turn the knobs. rotates and locks in place. There is an elastic band on the back of the handle that you use to open the oven. It's normal if it doesn't break like some people do. Control, press start. Preheat, then you need to put food in it, then press start again. The heater does not turn off when you open the door. A quick test with my IR temperature sensor read almost 450 F. The outside fan on the right lagged during preheat and for a while when the oven stopped. It stays cool on the sides and top (at least during my +1 minute preheat test). I found the controls intuitive. The instructions are very short. The crumb tray interferes with the door. The door closes fine, but the crumb tray pops open. It is better if it is installed backwards so that the raised handle of the crumb tray is at the back. I contacted Calphalon customer service regarding this and received a response. I was eventually redirected to the email address calphalonconsumercare@newellco.com. Unfortunately they didn't seem to read my email and just started the RMA process. So now I know their customer service is terrible. The kit includes many accessories: grill, pizza pan (without ventilation), frying pan, wire basket. Unfortunately, the two shelves are very close together and using two tiers at once is probably not realistic. The pizza pan didn't go that well with my Digiorno Frozen Rising Crust Pizza. The top of the pizza looked great but the bottom was raw and undercooked. I believe a perforated pan would make a difference. To find the right fit, it must not exceed 12 inches. I put this shelf over it: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B0823SFVW3 so we have a safe place to put pots or trays of cooked food without worrying about damaging the oven or that , which was above, overheats. Fits perfectly and helps minimize anything behind if not too tight. In general I think the oven will be fine after baking an item. It has some nice features like cool pages. But the controls aren't as good as they should be for the price, and customer service is almost non-existent. can i get it back Unless something else goes wrong. Would I get it again if I knew what I'm doing now? Probably no.
