Review on ASUS VG249Q Gaming Monitor with FreeSync, 144Hz DisplayPort, Adjustable Height & Pivot, Built-In Speakers, HD by Keith Griffin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I think this is the best monitor for the new line of consoles in terms of value for money.

So I will break it down into 3 categories. What I like, what I don't like and who I would recommend this monitor to. First, what do I like? - I think the overall image quality is amazing. It delivers fast, crisp images that can be made bright and colorful with a little tweaking of your monitor settings. All of this happens without bleeding or screen breaks. Second for me the size and appearance of the monitor. I tend to take a more minimalistic approach to anything gaming related. I like the character, but I don't like anything supernatural on the subject. This monitor has very thin bezels which makes it look more like a 24 inch monitor. It doesn't take up much desk space, making it ideal for dueling monitors, especially with thin bezels and the ability to attach it to a monitor mount. The monitor has a matte dark gray silver frame with black flecks, giving it a nice sleek character with a few touches of red in places like the stand. Third, I like the adjustability of the monitor. You can rotate it 360 degrees and tilt it forwards and backwards, as well as easily adjust its height. What I don't like now is that the monitor doesn't have a hole in the stand for cable management like the VG245. which can make hiding the cables difficult. Secondly, this monitor only has one HDMI port, now it has a display port and comes with a display cable, you don't have to worry if you are a console gamer. I wish it had two HDMI ports instead of one because swapping cables between consoles, laptop or PC can be a hassle. My final complaint is the on-screen navigation buttons for navigating through the settings. While it was fairly easy to get used to, I still wasn't the biggest fan. I prefer what was done on monitors like the VG245, which had a joystick on the back of the monitor which made menu navigation that much easier. Who would I recommend this monitor to? plays above 175hz on a new set of consoles or any PC or laptop. I think it's also the perfect monitor for those participating in shooters like Cod or Halo, especially with its response time. If you're looking for the perfect mid to smaller monitor for any type of desktop gaming, I think this is the perfect option. Now you definitely have to fiddle with your monitor settings, actually I'll leave mine here - I'm playing in FPS mode - blue light filter 0 - brightness 100 - contrast 85 - saturation 90 - color temperature "cold" - skin tone reddish - sharpness 60 - without traces from 60A, leave everything else as it is. If you want crisp, smooth gameplay with bright, beautiful colors, I highly recommend this. Whether you're competing with it or just playing alone or with friends on one of the newer consoles or sub-175Hz PC, I think it's your best bet for the overall package. I hope this helped.
