Review on Tile Mate (2016) and Tile Slim - 4 Pack (2 x Mate, 2 x Slim) - Manufacturer Discontinued: Find your lost items easily by Robert Yates

Please read the information before buying. I'm using an older version, but the company has changed their policies since the product was released. I don't usually write a review unless the product is awesome or terrible. At best, the tiles were pretty good when they then picked up the signal, but it's a great concept. Now Tile has DISABLED all my tiles through the app which is only 7 months old and says they have expired due to battery life. What a coincidence that they "died" all at once? WHAT A POOR COMPANY I carefully opened up two of these with a dremel and found that one battery was still at 3.03 volts and the other at 2.97 volts. I expected that as they were mostly new and hardly used. I then hooked up a new lithium button cell just in case to get the unit working. Vain. I then placed the tile on a suitable lab power supply to apply voltage - no luck. Several YouTubers claim you can swap batteries, but not now that Tile has shut down old Tiles by serial number. If you run out of time on tiles, you'll be dead in the water with lost items. Exactly what you want to avoid in the first place. Maybe someday a class action lawsuit. . .One in the box of 4 didn't even activate and is now "dead" even though the battery is new. And they are EXPENSIVE compared to many other companies making the same product these days. I would recommend the Nut Tracker as you can change the battery and they never get old. The Nut device costs about half the price of a tile and has no expiration date. It's not as loud as Tile, but offers other features that Tile doesn't offer, such as B. an anti-lost feature (the phone will beep when you walk away and leave your device - the tile doesn't). I bought it assuming it would be easy to change the battery and now the company has disabled it. Pretty cheap deal. Get something different. They won't stay long when this scheme gets out.
