First, research where you're buying. Gather information from the Sportrack website and use their lookup table for your make and year. There are many so-called Amazon companies that are just middlemen who don't have shops or warehouses so the product is never in stock. After coming across this and canceling 2 different orders, I ordered through the Eastern Mountains listed here on Amazon. Eastern Mountains had a phone number and excellent customer service, they are well versed in their inventory (this will come in handy later) and have many stores so a Sportrack adapter was handy at the store. Okay, now for the hard stuff. This adapter is designed for small cars that only have 3 doors, the 3rd one is hatchback. Firstly you must have Sportrack handlebars, this adapter is only intended as an extension for these handlebars. You will receive 2 adapters and instructions. The instructions are sketchy at best. I called the store and asked for help. We had to fiddle around a bit to get it to fit properly. The roof edge over the front windows is chamfered, which makes tightening the crossmembers nearly impossible, as the ends of the crossmembers have a coupler at each end that better fits the non-chamfered one. Now just pull it on lightly. Remove the ends of one of the crossbars of the sports track and install it on the above element where the coupling is located, it fits perfectly. The bar with no ends is the rear bar and rests firmly on its own liners and then tightens all the bars. All of the above come with the necessary tools. It took 2 people about 2 1/2 hours including making (about 1/2 hour now that I know how it's made). It hugs the car perfectly, forming a perfect square. Looks nice. If you have money to spare, suction cup crossbars might be a good choice.
