Good radio, BAD batteries

For a football official they work great. I like the private channel in case someone wants to try to eavesdrop and hear us. 38 private stations would be difficult to define. If anything, they're barely noticeable on the hips, and I use a headset with an overhead mic. The sound quality is superb and that's what counts. Battery life: Terrible. Just read other reviews and you will see that I am not alone. Why would Midland build a great radio and ship batteries that 1.) last a few hours if you're lucky, 2.) charge forever with a cord. My advice: get them if you're looking for a good compact radio. It gives you good sound then take them but I can't speak from afar as I use them on the soccer field so it's not really far. GET DIFFERENT BATTERIES. I bought 1100 mAh batteries and a separate charger. Charger with LED indicators that tell you when charged. The instructions for them say it will say FULL and it's only happened to me once otherwise they just look like they've been charging for hours and hours. I don't think you can list other brands in the reviews here so I won't, but you can do a quick search and make your choice. Midland: PLEASE provide more powerful batteries in the future. My radio broke mid-game and of course I can't stop turning it off. Thanks very much!
