All battery reviews are correct, I should have heard. They never charge even though I left them 3 days in a row. After about 4.5 hours they are dead. I went and bought some regular alkaline batteries in case the rechargeable ones were bad, but the result is the same. My old Uniden radios can last for days on the same batteries. I bought these thinking my mum has a bad phone and I could use them when her phone seems busy but it's not . The first set arrived on time, I put the batteries in and charged them. Very robust construction. Great product in every way. We were about 2.5 miles apart on a straight flat road and it was still nice and clean. Even through hills and curves you can still get about 1/2 mile or a little more. Using it on our overland trip was so much better and ten times more convenient than messing around with a phone. After a month of use, not a single radio lasts. I figured it must just be cheap batteries so I ordered new batteries which by the way were very hard to come by. After charging the batteries for the first time, the radios still do not charge. One doesn't even turn on when plugged in. One only works when connected.
