Review on πŸŽ’ Canvas Blackburn Wayside Backpack Pannier by Abidzar Olivas

Great pack with small nits

I have been going to work with this pack for a week now and it is a great pack. Attaching as a basket takes a little longer than expected, a minute or two, winding up the velcro and undoing the straps is slower than standard basket hooks. I only use the cart function on the longest route because hanging up is a bit annoying. Then again, this is a great time to pack bikes. Even if I hadn't used the case a lot, I wouldn't have been disappointed with the purchase. If ultra-fast hovering is your thing, look no further than the Banjo Brothers Convertible. It's not as good as a backpack in my opinion, but it hangs on standard hooks much faster. The water bottle straps on each side are roomy and easily fit a standard bike bottle or medium-sized reinforced lock. A small note on Velcro as a fastening mechanism. I was a little skeptical that it was strong enough or that it seemed to last a reasonable amount of time. I feel better after using it. This is a wide velcro and looks very high quality. At some point in a few years I might have to replace the stripes somehow, but I believe that's really the life of a bag like this. And a big plus is that the velcro won't bounce off the stand if you hit it hard. I've had this a few times over the years with regular basket hooks, it won't happen with velcro. There are a few very small things that could be improved. Molle center strap loops are too tight to be useful. There is exactly one of these that you can use to start with, the rest are mostly decorative. However, if you slide through the paracord to make a small loop tree, it will work completely as intended. But you don't have to, the loops should be loose enough to be used alone. And the odd omission is that I can't find the inside key hook. I thought I read somewhere in the review that there was one, but there wasn't. It's not a big deal, but I love this feature and will probably add it to mine. In general, people who think they might need a bag with this feature, and we know who we are, only have two real choices. there: this bag and the Banjo Brothers device. Everything else is insanely expensive and/or uses proprietary shelving systems. I have used both and for my needs this backpack is easy to buy it is a much better backpack. If a backpack is an afterthought and you really need a quick hanging basket that you only carry on your back from time to time, the Banjo Brothers might be a better fit for you. Pros: *lots of space *soft laptop sleeve is cool *basket connection works well, velcro is stronger than you think and looks like it will last. *looks great Not so cool: *takes 60+ seconds to convert and attach to luggage rack *molle loop strip is more decorative than functional *would like an internal loop for hanging keys
