I have this in a 110 gallon open tank. It works well. The plates are on top of the 4 bulkheads. I attached flexible hoses to 4 risers and connected them along with tees to a 1200 GPH submersible pump that pumps water into my waterfall filter. The mulma is drawn under the plates and accumulates over time, but periodic draining of water from the bottom of the tank releases it in sufficient quantities.
