Great Multifunction Laser for Home/Small Business

Lasers have come a long way since the compact, car-sized monochrome lasers of yesterday. HP is a leader in laser printing technology with literally dozens of models for both consumers and businesses. This model is a good example of their desktop laser line. Surprisingly thin for what it does (although it weighs over 50 pounds) - ten years ago this type of printer would have been on wheels, with its own space and IT staff. And it can do it all - automatic two-sided printing, scanning and copying, phone bypass fax, 28 ppm output, monochrome or full color printing (HP has some of the best color profiles in the industry), various paper weights (HP has a full line of light and heavy plain paper and photo paper for laser printers), finishing and feeding options (accessories available to expand the tray up to 550 sheets) โ€“ real business convenience. This is a versatile laser printer. Setup was relatively easy (more below), the built-in LED screen is quick and intuitive, with a range of setup/input options, and fairly quiet for a laser. Monochrome text is crisp and high-resolution, and even larger photos (8x10) print at a reasonable 600x600 dpi with perfect color matching. Not bad. It's economical too, despite the cost of Bentley laser toner cartridges - standard replacements cost over $100 each, and a full set of (4) high-capacity cartridges will soon cost you, including shipping and taxes. $1,000 page - Standard toner cartridges last for over 2,000 pages and high-yield toner cartridges for about 6,000. In comparison, a standard business ink cartridge ($40) actually yields 300-400 pages between cleaning dry cartridges and cleaning printheads at an optimal cost of around $0.10 per page (could be worse as you're getting dried and unusable cartridges may have to be thrown away โ€“ if you rarely print full-color brochures or photos with an inkjet printer, you can pay more than 0.25 per page). The High Yield Toner Cartridge ($230+) is rated for 6,000 pages at an optimal price of 0.04 per page (standard cartridges cost about the same per page). Your finance department will tell you that for high volume business printing this is not a problem. For home use, toner cartridges are expensive but maintenance free, they can sit in the printer unused for weeks and still print great and produce fully rated pages. The only thing that a laser can't do compared to an inkjet printer is to print large format, high-resolution photos on photo paper for printing - you need a special inkjet printer, warts and such. arrived DOA - on two screens in the settings the built-in LED read "printer error". HP online support seemed to think I had a different printer and kept giving instructions that didn't apply to that printer, so we ended up explaining that the printer was locked. Revain shipped the new printer as quickly as possible, which went through the setup perfectly. It could be shipping - HP laser printers don't like it when their insides are shaken - or it could be a manufacturing defect. Things happen. I should also mention that the HP printer's design isn't as rugged as some of its competitors - thinner plastic and hinges, more moving parts - but is generally fine for light business or personal use, and HP support has been around for a while location is available. If you're a small business, this printer does everything you need, affordably, with HP's extensive one-stop support network. If you're currently a home user with an inkjet printer on your desk, you might want to take a closer look at this if you're thinking about switching to lasers - it'll also serve you well in the long run with less hassle and maintenance, and although front-end consumables are more expensive , it's actually no more expensive and probably even cheaper for general printing needs, with faster and better quality printing. highlighted.
