I needed a very small Wi-Fi adapter to replace the built-in Wi-Fi on the Pi Zero W to further enhance its reliability to improve the LAN. This adapter takes up less space than any other I've tried. Like other Wi-Fi adapters, this product has very little (virtually non-existent) Linux driver support. (The old version of this product was plug-and-play with zero-pi.) Luckily, the company's tech support is excellent (via email, at least). This product is based on the Realtek Wi-Fi chipset. Edimax technical support was very quick to respond to my request for help and referred me to a long list of Linux drivers from which I found drivers for the Pi 4 and Pi Zero architectures. Although I don't have a comparative measure of signal strength, the number of "bands" has increased after replacing the built-in WiFi on both Raspberry Pisahs.
